I was born on July 12,1960 here in the beautiful city of Vernon, British Columbia and have lived here all my life, so far. It is a great place with four usually mild seasons, lots of great people, many opportunities, my family, etc..... I don't think I would really care to live anywhere else in the world except maybe Christmas Island, where it is 33 degrees Celsius all year round. (But I would come home for Christmas, because it would lack something without SNOW!!!) As you can see from my home page I am a entertainer and play many instruments, among them.... guitar, fiddle, organ, bass, and most anything else with strings or keys on it. I have been making peoples ears ring now for over 25 years. I have had many of my Oldtime Fiddle tunes published in 3 music books and I composed Vernon's Centennial song, "Celebration '92".
In October of 1997 I released a CD/Cassette
of
original songs entitled "HeartBeats". This is quite
appropriate as I have a congenital heart defect. I am donating $1.00
from the sale of each CD/tape to the Canadian Adult Congenital Heart
(CACH) Network to promote awareness of persons with congenital heart
defects. I have had lots of GREAT comments on my album so far. I hope
you will support Canadian music and CACH. If you
would like a copy you will find the address on my CD
page. Only another 49,750 to go to
get my "GOLD RECORD"!! With your help - PLEASE!!!!!
- I should have one by the time I am 99 years old (I think
qualify right now for an ALUMINUM RECORD???). In 2000 I released an album of original oldtime fiddle
tunes entitled "Wishing a Dream".
In addition to music I have many other interests. I have been an Amateur Radio Operator (VE7EGD) since 1979, I have collected postage stamps for over 30 years and in 1999/2000 I received 4 Silver Medals displaying my Perfins of British Columbia. I am an artist painting in oil, acrylic and watercolors, I am also quite involved in my church (Peace Lutheran Congregation, part of the ELCIC), I was with the local barbershop chorus for 3 years, and my most recent passion is Toastmasters. I have an attained my ATM Silver and Competent Leader designation and in the fall of 2003 I am pursuing a possible new career in INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKING. But mostly I am a student of life I love to learn about anything and everything.
I have never been a participant in sports due to my heart problem, but in 1995 I took up darts, and very much enjoy this sport as well as pool (billiards/eight ball). In fact on February 8th, 1996 I managed to get my first "180" (the highest score you can get in one turn, 3 triple 20's) and have since scored another couple "180's" and three bull finishes. When I shot the first 180 I didn't stop shaking for 10 minutes I was so excited, and everyone else playing darts that night enjoyed it too, as they all received a FREE BEER!!
Another activity I have started is fly-fishing. I have never been an outdoors person, but I have been bitten by the fishin' bug and I am looking forward to tight lines and lots of fresh fried B.C. Trout..... Like Colonel Sanders says....FINGER LICKIN' GOOD!!!!! If you are in the area give me a call and we'll go fishin' at some of the local lakes, of which there are hundreds.
I hope this gives you an idea of what I am about and I look forward to having an "EYEBALL" with you, as we say in "Ham Radio" real soon. All the best from the Beautiful Okanagan Valley in Beautiful British Columbia, (the Banana Belt of Canada) Take Care and God Bless.
